SB9, sponsored by Senator Judy Ward, is critical to preserve Title IX protections and ensure the safety and wellbeing of our female athletes. This bill enjoys broad bipartisan support of the electorate, but House leaders are using procedural tactics to avoid letting this bill come up for a vote. The bill had been in the Education committee but was transferred to the Health committee after Representative Barb Gleim used a procedural maneuver to end the tactics of gridlock and force a vote. Every time the bill is referred to a new committee the Democrats restart the clock that allows the vote to be forced, and it appears they plan to use this tactic of continual delays to run out the clock through the end of the legislative session.

TALKING POINTS:
– If this bill does not pass, your district will lose federal funding.
– How can you be against this bill when UPenn has just decided to prohibit men from competing in girls’ sports?
– How can you claim to be FOR WOMEN, when you are allowing biological men to take away women’s scholarships?
– Follow this bill and call your representatives on the committee – especially the chair. As of July 11, the bill is in the Health committee awaiting a decision from chairman Dan Frankel (D). You can see the members here.
– Tell them ENOUGH of the procedural games. Take care of female athletes. Stop moving the bill from committee to committee, and VOTE THE BILL OUT OF COMMITTEE.
Contact Democrat and Republican legislators alike. This is another “80-20″issue. EVERYONE with common sense wants to protect our women.
