Your action is needed over the weekend and Monday morning. Vote to re-refer is coming on Monday.
The following bills enjoy broad bi-partisan support from voters. But elected Democrats have consistently refused to bring them up for a vote.
- HB158 – Protect Women’s Sports Act (Health Committee); (Text)
- SB9 – SAVE Women’s Sports Act (Health Committee); (Text)
- HB1849 – Dad’s Defending Daughters (Health Committee); (Text)
- SB1293 – SAVE Women’s Sports Act (Judiciary Committee); (Text)
Understanding the Democrat Tactic
Republicans have used a procedure called a discharge resolution to force a vote on these bills. This requires that, within 15 days, the bill must receive a vote. However, if the bill is forwarded to another committee, the “clock” is reset. The Democrats have used this as a tactic over and over as a means of obstructing representative government, and avoiding being on the record about these crucial issues.
On Monday, all 3 of the bills in the Health committee are going to be referred AGAIN.
Enough is enough!
Call to Action –
- Call the chair of the Health committee, Rep. Dan Frankel.
- Tell him to protect girls, to protect democracy, and to BRING THESE BILLS TO A VOTE!
- A vote to re-refer is a vote against protecting our girls!
- Call the Members of the Health Committee (26 of them) – but especially call the Democrats.
- Same message.
- Call YOUR representative. Same message.
If you get your network of people making these calls, and leaving a flood of messages, should Democrats re-refer these, this can easily become an albatross around the political necks of these representatives going into November. Yet ANOTHER re-referral vote is political baggage – IF people understand the game that Democrats are playing.
